Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport 5th Runway
The 5th Runway spans eight lanes of Interstate-285 and was designed for an ultimate I-285 buildout of 18 lanes. The spans are 170 feet long and consist of prestressed concrete beams to provide shear reinforcement in the deck. The post-tensioned diaphragm allows heavy aircraft wheel loads on a conventional bridge deck.
